Kelsang Dolma to Run NYC 2004 Marathon

Kelsang Dolma Dodin, a Tibetan woman from London, will run the
New York Marathon on Sunday 7 November 2004. The New York Marathon
was the second time Kelsang has raised funds for charitable projects
and to raise awareness of Tibetan situation through world sporting
events.
On 18th April 2004, Kelsang took part in the London Marathon and
has raised over £2400 for Tibet Foundation, which was distributed
for projects benefiting Tibetans in Ladakh and in Tibet itself.
She has been widely featured on radio, in magazines and on websites.
The Daily Telegraph, a UK national newspaper recorded 100 facts
on the 2004 London Marathon. The 75th fact read, "Kelsang
Dolma Dodin became the first Tibetan woman to compete". She
had also run the Bonn and Berlin Marathons.
Kelsang Dolma, an ex-student of the Tibetan Children's Village
school in Dharamsala is very keen on sports especially in running.
She trains every week between London's Nike Town in the Upper
Regent Street and Regent's Park for her run in New York.
Kelsang is donating funds raised through her sponsorships in New
York Marathon to two British charities including Tibet Foundation.
The Tibet Foundation is helping the people of Tibetan origin through
aid, education, healthcare and sustainable projects in India,
Nepal and inside Tibet. In Mongolia, the Foundation is helping
the Mongolian people towards revival of their Buddhist tradition,
which they shared with the Tibetan people for centuries.
Kelsang has so far raised over £1000 for Tibet Foundation
and she hopes to raise more in the coming months from her friends
and supporters.
