Looking back at the years behind us, there seems no denial that “this generation of Himalayan youths” have been screaming for a magazine like Migyul Youth or at least some sort of medium where we can express the things that run in our mind. The world seems of such a distance between the generation of our parents and us.

Hello to all and welcome to the 1st ever Migyul Youth. Yes — we have finally managed to get our acts together and put our words into print. It has taken us some time but we believe that it is crucial to have a section of Migyul dedicated totally to the youth — the NOW generation of the Himalayan Community.

Looking back at the years behind us, there seems no denial that “this generation of Himalayan youths” have been screaming for a magazine like Migyul Youth, or at least some sort of medium where we can express the things that run in our mind. The world seems of such a distance between the generation of our parents and us. Personally, everyday is recognition of a change where we are becoming part of the next generation and realizing the responsibility it places upon us, leaving an inevitable print on our community and the world at large. But what does it really mean to be a part of the next generation? Let alone the responsibility it places on us.

Each generation has its share of struggles — and so do we. Therefore, it was and is important that the youths of this generation have a medium through which they can voice their opinions, share the issues they face that the elders may or may not be aware of and be a closer part of the community. Most of what this generation already is and is becoming — without playing the blame game — is largely a reflection of the generation of our parents. There is much to be thankful for to them but we have to keep in mind that there’s always room for improvement. Even if it means that one generation has to recognize its role in the establishment of the next, whether it is through a magazine, television, schooling, or any other characteristic of life. Even though we all have our individuality, being part of this generation or another, demands a communal consciousness.

So, let this be the one step towards our goal in forming a better generation, for a better community towards a better tomorrow.

One generation educates, teaches, and prepares the next generation and therefore precisely impacts the future generation. Easier said than done, which leaves us with a challenge. The future of tomorrow depends on all generations, and this magazine on our part is an attempt to create a common ground where the generations can find understanding for one another. Like the saying goes, “The journey of a million mile begins with one step.” So, let this be the one step towards our goal in forming a better generation, for a better community towards a better tomorrow.

But all of this is not possible without the cooperation of the youths of the Himalayan community. Therefore, we urge you to get involved — send us your articles, your opinions, your artwork or issues that you might need help with. Please send them to migyul_youth@yahoo.com.

And last but not the least; we would like to thank the “senior” Migyul members for giving us (youths) the opportunity to express ourselves through this medium. Thank you for your support and for listening to us! But we would like to make it clear that Migyul Youth is a separate entity and not wholly a part of Migyul. There are no loopholes that one needs to go through to get to Youth, thus, the answer to a separate email address.

The views expressed in Migyul Youth are solely that of the Youth. The decisions are made by the Youth. We would simply like to thank Migyul for being our “guardian” and not our “tyrannical ruler” (that is a bit of an exaggeration – but we are simply trying to get the message across). We hope that Migyul Youth will keep growing as Migyul has been doing. And we hope that the youths will be cooperative!
