Treatments > Philosophy

Develop a treatment philosophy that favors preventive conservation to minimize proactively the need for physical intervention.

Engage all members of the staff, administration, and board in the furthering greater awareness of the Museum's treatment philosophy.

In the event of response requiring physical intervention, clearly articulate the treatment recommendations as part of the planning process, Record of Decision and, eventually, Treatment Report.

Review the Museum's treatment philosophy on an ongoing basis. Articulate the treatment philosophy to colleagues and visitors.

Employ the treatment philosophy in developing recommendations based on any and all assessment, including, but not limited to, Conservation Assessments, Preservation Plans, Historic Furnishing Plans and Historic Structure Reports.
