You have been assigned one profession (with your name in Red) in the list, below.
Define
the profession by identifying and assessing international, national and/or
large regional organizations that relate to your chosen field.
Your preliminary research will be due during discussion
of Professional Practice
and Collaboration. You are responsible for continuing
research and providing a summary (hard copy, email attachment
in Word, filename <301-10_professions_lastname.doc>).
For the paper, provide the following:
-
definition of profession including scope of work
-
name of organization(s);
-
URL, or web address, in full, including "http://...";
- a paragraph description of organization, and, in detail, its
specific relevance to the profession;
For purposes of this assignment, and the class discussions
that follow, "organizations" refer to associations and
organizations (usually non-for profit); university educational
initiatives; federal (and state) agencies; and—to a lesser
extent—commercial, for-profit enterprises.
On the Internet, organization's Web sites are typically identified
by their suffix, being, respectively: org, edu, gov, and com.
This construct of Web site domains is not a mere coincidence but
the (virtual) reality, and 'architecture', of our socio-economic
and political organization. In tandem with a critical assessment
of each, these organizations help define the scope, purpose, and
services of particular professions (see below), and their interrelationship.
Cite each source you refer to for information. Retain
notes and/or files.
