Initiatives

  1. Choose one subject (or a few, in combination) from the List or that you identify.
  2. Define the subject(s), with reference to cited literature.
  3. Explain why the subject(s)/issue(s) is/are important, citing evidence: surveys, reports, policy papers, legislation, larger issues, related issues, etc.
  4. What is the "need"? (viz: are there historic resources at risk? Do communities need specialized services? etc.)
  5. Identify at least five (5) organizations, agencies, and/or companies that address the need(s). Describe and critically assess their work, citing specifics.
  6. Provide an overall assessment of the collective work that is being done.
    1. Cite "best practices". If possible visit sites.
    2. Include other efforts, future work that might be considered
  7. Write a ten-page paper, with at least ten (10) excellent citations (not including reference to organization Web sites, whcih should also be included).
    1. Use peer-reviewed, published definitions of terminology, as needed (not included asany of the ten citations, above).
    2. Employ RWU library resources; online resources; information from public, private and nonprofit sectors; and case studies (with site visits if possible).
    3. Compelling high-quality Illustrations (included in an appendix), labeled, cited. Use medium-size files.

Resources

Consider subjects and practitionera that are addressing work not via conferences. Even if you cna not attend, knwo many of the speakers are a valued resources.
